Olympic Medal Races

We're nearly there.  We are on our last lay day with the Medal Races tomorrow.  The forecast is for 12-14 knots gusting to 15-17 from about 220o degrees.  This means a maximum leg length of 0.5nm with the start line in full view of the public.  As a slalom takes the finish away from the grandstand the likelihood is that the course will be an LR.  The men's race goes at 1300 and the women's at 1400.

The women's race is likely to be marginal planing which is the hardest for us to get right for race time.  If they are planing they are likely to be daggerboard down and pointing higher than the men who should, with those wind speeds, be fully planing.

So we are all chilling at the moment with some by the pool, others watching the BBC iPlayer of the previous televised RS:X racing from Wednesday and Saturday and others off site - probably at the beach.  We have a Medal Race briefing for our team at 6.30 this evening.

Lots of concentration and focus will be required by the team to ensure that we deliver the best racing possible with no errors.
