Welcome to the website of SolentXtra, the race management team appointed to manage the RS:X course at the 2012 Olympics in Weymouth, England.
The team is full of talent and led by ISAF International Race Officer, Robert Lamb. Rob is an ISAF race management instructor responsible for writing the ISAF Seminar and examination. He is also the lead race management instructor for GBR.
We have experience of most Olympic Classes, dinghies, boards and keelboats of all sizes up to and including J Class super yachts.
Excellence is our aim when it comes to sailing race management to ensure that the sailors, or customers as we prefer to call them, get the very best experience and racing that can be provided.
Approximately half of the team come from the Solent area with the others from clubs across the country as far away as Scotland and North Wales. Royal Southampton Yacht Club has 10 of its members on the SolentXtra team and Pwllheli Sailing Club has 5.
The team has grown to its present status since 2007. It is a true legacy of the 2012 Olympics in that it is the selection process for this event that has driven the team forwards together with the opportunities given by the Royal Yachting Association to manage courses at World Class Events including Sail for Gold, the 2009 RSX Worlds and the 2010 Laser Masters Worlds. Pwllheli Sailing Club has also provided opportunities to run major events.
Adie Callaghan of Sebago has very generously agreed to support SolentXtra and supplies apparel and shoes to each and everyone on the team.
The team has:
1 ISAF International Race Officer & 1 retired International Race Officer
4 RYA National Race Officers
7 RYA Regional Race Oficers
4 RYA National Mark Layers
2 RYA Regional Mark Layers
2 RYA National Judges.
We can manage sailing racing using as many members of the team as is required to make an event work - this may be an individual or the whole team and anywhere in between.
SolentXtra would be delighted to manage your event for you. Contact the team usng the 'contact page'.
